While the US’s equipment is certainly good, much of it is old and worn out, dating back to the 80s. While the US bogged down in the Middle East, China underwent a rearmament program that dramatically improved the quality of Chinese military equipment. There probably remains a bit of a qualitative gap between the US and China in terms of the quality and reliability of their equipment. However, that gap has closed considerably. I am honestly not sure if the US can beat China in a war today for two reason: concentration of forces and medium-range missiles.
